When I first started building my list, I was a sales manager for a Fortune 500 company. However, I became sick with an autoimmune disorder and was forced to stop working much earlier than I wanted to.
That’s when I decided to start building my email list.
I’ve always had a gift for sales, so when I started my blog I wanted to teach people that selling online could be fun and profitable.
When I found Videofruit, I had 2,043 subscribers. Fast-forward 4 months and I had built my list subscribers to 5,245.
My first product, “Earn Your First $1K Blogging,” made $14,897 when I launched it. In 2015 I doubled the amount of money I made due to increasing the size of my list.
Because of my email list I’m now focused full-time on my business!
How did you do it?
Initially I got my first 100 subscribers by doing two things.
First, I started guest blogging on other sites to get my name and website in front of people who wanted to hear about blogging for profit.
Second, I started offering giveaways bundled with products and services my market loves. When I ran my first giveaway, a blog makeover, I was able to add 699 subscribers to my list in 10 days.
Currently my list is at 8,694 subscribers.
I went from 100 to 5,245 by focusing on two things: 1) consistently guest blogging; and 2) having a site-wide freebie offer.
This is the method I’ve used to grow my list the fastest.
Guest blogging is where you write for other sites in your industry that will accept posts from guests.
This works two-fold because it’s given me credibility by being on those sites and now I get a steady stream of traffic to my websites.
When you land on my website, you’re presented with “Your Free Cheat Sheet: The 5 Step Blueprint to Your First $1K” at the top, above the fold so that everyone who lands on the page can see it.
If it doesn’t catch your attention, I’ve optimized my site to have it in a few other places, like a “slide-up” pop-up and even in the footer of each page.
What has building an email list changed in your life and allowed you to do?
Building my email list has allowed me to retire 6 years early.
Now I can work at home in my yoga pants and take much better care of myself, all due to my successful blogging business.
My schedule is my own and I’m able to come up with and implement additional business ideas as I please!
What’s next for you?
I’m spending all of my time focused on three things:
Son + Dog + Cat
Blogging For Beginners
Doubled Her Revenue
I've read the Videofruit blog since the beginning and have bought almost everything they’ve ever sold. I was very successful building my list and my income has grown exponentially because of that.
