When I first started building my email list, I was working as a social media manager for a fancy agency in London.
I wanted the freedom and ability to have more leisure time to follow my own interests and passions (reading, spending time with friends and family, creating things, etc…).
That’s when I decided to build an email list around the topic of personal development and life reflections!
Fast-forward 2 years and I’d built a list of 1,897 subscribers.
How did you do it?
I got my first 100 subscribers by doing one thing. I manually reached out to my contacts and asked them to join my list.
Since I had started the business on Facebook and Instagram, I already had a small audience, so I simply asked them to subscribe to my email list for weekly love letters and new product announcements.
I would indirectly encourage our Instagram followers to join our list. Since I only sell products through the mailing list, I made sure to mention that these products were only available to those on the list.
Currently my list is at 1,897 subscribers.
I went from 100 to 1,897 subscribers by doing 2 things: 1) encouraging subscribers to share my story, and 2) selling directly through email.
Encouraging My Subscribers
I never had a marketing plan of attack for getting new subscribers, so when I found out my subscribers were sharing my story, I definitely didn’t try to stop it! I’ve gotten quite a few new subscribers this way. I LOVE it. There’s nothing better than knowing I’m making such an impact that my followers are sharing me so much!
Selling Directly Through Email
I have made email the main way to buy my products.
Nothing I sell (even physical products) is available for sale on my website. I sell pretty much exclusively via email.
Here’s one example of our sales email.
And here is a second one.
I constantly sell all types of products! The last month alone I’ve made over $26,000 selling an online course and a tour to Morocco (where I currently live).
Generally I make anywhere between $6,000 and $13,000 in profit when selling an online class and $2,000 to $6,000 in profit when selling physical products.
Here are a couple of products I sell:
What has building an email list changed in your life and allowed you to do?
It has definitely given me the privilege of having way more free time on my hands, since I get to sell one or two big products a year.
What’s next for you?
I’m spending all of my time focused on three things:

To be completely honest, I've been following and reading multiple blogs and websites on 'making it online', and as good as some of them were - it's only when I came across Videofruit's epic articles that I actually started to make real money from my online business ventures. The fact that Videofruit decides to share all of their strategies so openly, honestly and with the sincere intention of helping as many struggling entrepreneurs as possible - that's truly priceless.
