How to create an email funnel with Hellobar and Leadpages? (Transcript)
So this is what the workflow looks like in our life.
First, on every page of our site, or any page you wanted to show up on, you can have a Hellobar show up. And there’s other versions if you don’t wanna use a hellobar, there’s plug-ins just like it. But hellobar’s the easiest one I found that’s super simple to set-up and configure the settings on. And it will show up on every page on your site. It makes it wasy. You can test different call to actions. Anyway, this is what it looks like. So on every page of your site, you’re gonna have this bar up here and you can customize the coloring and the wording and the button and all that stuff. When you click it, it’s gonna take you to a specific landing page. And this is a Leadpage right here. And again, you don’t have to use Leadpages; you can send them to any site you want to. This is just easy. And when you come here, the copy matches up with the hello bar copy, obviously, so people know they’re on the right page. You click “Get it Started”. You enter your email address. And then you click “Get Access” and you can have it send you whatever you want. And this case, its gonna send you to a Member’s area where you can download a PDF in PDF Book. You can download the book right here. So that’s how it works. That’s the flow of the thing.
So, let me show you how to set it up. Let’s jump in to my Hellobar account. And the first thing is to setup your Hellobar. So we’re gonna come in here; you’re gonna see a bunch of Hellobars that I’ve set-up. These are a couple of them that I’m running right now. This is actually the one that we just clicked on. So you can see they’re doing alright. I like to have optin rates or conversion rates above 3 percent on these. So I’ll keep tweaking the copy. But you can see right here, 2.2 to 2.8 percent; so, a little over 0.6 percent increase just by changing the copy. So you always find really interesting things there that you can use in hooks for future products and blog post and status updates; all that stuff. It’s interesting; just study the copy and what works. So I’ll keep playing with that.
But let’s just create a new one here real quick. And, we’ll just kinda do it on the fly here and you can see here how it works in real life. So we’re gonna start with the copy I already have: “How I got 120 people to read my blog post.” So, we just enter the copy here…just delete that. “How I got 120 people to read my blog to read my first blog post.” And you can change the code to action here. I like using “Download”; I found that works really well. You can choose any of these preset themes and you can see at the top here, it’s live updating. You need preset themes and you can see it changing. So, I like green; it contrasts to my blog really well. You can customize it further here. So I like using the regular size and that just decreases the bar size some. Again, you can play around with that; see what works best for you. You change the font size, all these other stuff; you can get into that. And you can get lost in there, honestly. But I- that’s all I do. I write my copy, I make my button, and I move on. So let’s change the copy here. How I got 120 people— Let’s change it to “ How you can get” 120 people to read “your” first blog post. That’d be interesting. So it takes it from talking about “me” here to talking about “them” and that’s one. So I wanna split test on that and see how it works. The next thing is to edit your URL. So if you create it inside of this campaign, so you have- so this is a campaign here that’s sending everybody the same landing page. And it’s gonna have all of my URL exclusions, which means any pa- like if somebody goes to blog. Videofruit.com-slash-coaching it’s not gonna show up on that page. So there’s some sites I don’t wanna show up on. And if you create a new Hellobar inside of that campaign, it’s going to automatically copy all of those settings. So this makes it easier. It automatically has my URL on there, which is pretty simple. And if you’re creating one from scratch, just enter the destination URL. “Goal URL” really just means where do you want them to go when they click. So, pretty straight forward there. Just name your goal name whatever you want; it’s not a big consequence. And hit Save. And, Next. And now the Hellobar’s created.
Now, I have Hellobar obviously installed on my site already. But if you don’t, setup is really simple. Let’s just jump in to my site and I’ll show you. To give you a simple follow guide here, you use WordPress; you can install a plugin. If you don’t have WordPress, you can just install a snippet of code on your site. It works either way. And I don’t even think that the plugin does a whole lot from what I remember. I- very really good to it; you can edit everything from the website. Come to see here, where it even is. Yeah. So it might even have settings in here and all of it seemed to be settings and all. So everything is edited from Hellobar. So once you’ve installed the plugin, just activate it. Just go to Hellobar.com, log in and you can do all of your settings from here. So we just created this new one. I’m gonna pause this one which didn’t get a lot of con- which had a little lower conversion rate. So now, it will rotate these two. In a week or so, I can come back and see if the conversion rate of these ones surpass conversion rates of that one. If you wanna speed it up even further, you could pause this one, and send all of the traffic to this third one, which I think I might do, actually and see if it works. So let me just read this, make sure it is written well. “How you can get 120 people to read your first blog post.” I like it; that’s good. It’s focused to beginners, which are the majority of people who read my site and most sites honestly. So anyways, that’s the Hellobar section.
Now, let’s look at the Leadpages section. So now, the first piece of the puzzle- let’s see how to create the page that they go to when they click it. So we have this part setup, so it’s already changed “How you can get 120 people”. When they click “Download”, they’re coming to this page. Now let’s go over and see what that creation process looks like. I’m just gonna go straight to that page. And one quick way is power tip the people that use Leadpages. You can setup a Leadpages book market. So you can just click when you’re on the leadpage page, you can click the book market, and it automatically sends you into Leadpages where you can configure this.
So, I’ve just gone and chosen a Leadpages template. Let’s just kind start on the beginning and I’ll show you the setup process and we’ll jump back in that exact page. So you can just come here; choose any page. I don’t remember the exact one I chose. But, Leadpages makes it really simple to go in and do that. I don’t think I used that one. Let’s hit back and spy it real quick on what I was using. I use it a lot because it’s pretty customizable and I could make it look exactly how I want.
You don’t remember the exact one I use; but this is another popular one here. This one is really good. And, obviously with Leadpages, you can sort everything back in conversion rate and just see which one converts the best. But once you’ve selected your page, you can change everything about it. So I’ve uploaded a custom header image up here. It’s kinda focused on giving me some social proof; ‘cause a lot of people that click the Hellobar thing won’t know who I am, they’re fist time visitors to the site. I’ve uploaded an image of me. I can choose all the bullet point texts and everything; and everything is just customizable. I can choose what I wanna do with my button. I- Personally I use Ontraport or Office Autopilot, on my email collection. So I create a form in Office Autopilot. And then I just link that form to this specific Leadbox on this Leadpage. So when I go over here to Office Autopilot, this isn’t the exact form; but I can tell it where I want that person to go to. And when they optin on that, on that landing page, it’s gonna send them to the page where they can demo the ebook. Or I could send themjust straight to the ebook itself. Either one works.
So once we have created this page, we’re just gonna get “Publish” and we can send them straight to this page here or you can activate a Leadpage redirect, which allows us to go on the site and pick a custom URL. I’ve actually done that. So, I put all of my landing pages on videofruit.com, the main domain. So let’s log in there and I’ll show you what that process looks like. So let’s say that we’ve already created the page. Let’s get rid of that. We’ve created this page inside of Leadpages, it’s called vacuum-dash-ebook-landing. Now we’re gonna log in to our site, install the Leadpages WordPress plugin to make it easy on yourself. Click “Add New”. And then we’re just gonna make sure it’s slip on normal page and come down here and find that vacuum formula. I wish these were in alphabetical order. That’s the Thank You page. Here it is right here. So that’s the page where it is created, and we can call it whatever we want. So let’s pick hello-bar-optin-ebook. Click “Publish” and then we could go to that URL and see that page. So that’s what we’ve done here. This is the vacuum-dash-ebook. So we can go in to our Leadpages and look at that exact page and make changes to it and do whatever we want. So let’s see; here it is right here. Vaccum-dash-ebook. So we could go in and edit that, and see that it’s pointing to the vacuum ebook landing which is this landing page.
So, now that we have a URL, we just go back in the Hellobar, look at that, click “Edit”; click “Edit Link URL” and put that link right there. And that points at Hellobar to Leadpages. So, that’s the method. Hope that helps. If you have any questions, get me at bryan@videofruit.com, or just come over to videofruit.com/blog. Thanks.
