How many of you said something like this “Texting is for teenage girls, if I want to talk to someone I’ll just call them.”?
I did, in 1999. I distinctly remember that summer. I spent several weeks in Rome. While I was there it was shocking how many people had cell phones. At the time that was not the norm where I lived. I knew a few people that did but it was always for business and most people had bag phones in their car, not true cell phones. But in Italy, everyone had a cell phone.
I remember coming back from that trip and being happy that we didn’t have those here because they were “so distracting.”
Fast forward 14 years…things have changed. There are now more phones on the planet than people.
Now I can get faster internet speeds on my phone than at my house. I can watch every football game of the season on my phone and have video calls with people halfway around the globe for free.
When you zoom out for a minute and look at how drastically phones have changed the way we operate as a species it is mind blowing.
Greg Hickman teaches businesses how to adopt to this trend and how to retrofit their businesses to better communicate to and sale to their customers. Recently Greg shared an infographic the was created by the guys over at supermonitring.com that shows just how jaw dropping the last 14 years have been.
We did our thing and turned it into a video. Enjoy 🙂
